Income Tax Canada Forms 2008
Question: How do I file taxes as a Freelance Graphic designer in Ontario, Canada?
Hi everyone – I am attempting to do my own personal taxes this year and am stuck with – the freelance graphic designer issue – I have a business registered as a freelance graphic designer but no income for 2008 since I was on EI as well – My question is Do I still need to file? where (T1 form) if there is no income where do I claim this? thanks all
Thanks everyone a little more confusion the T2125 is a separate form I attach correct and I guess on the general tax return this is reflected or amount entered? how Do I know if I qualify for GST rebate or any other rebates?
Answer: CRA only allows you to claim expenses incurred to earn income – therefore, if there is no income, there are no expenses. However, you can carry forward your start-up expenses to 2009, assuming you have income from the business this year.
If you received EI, then you have a T-slip and should file. You may end up with a refund as taxes are withheld from EI benefits. You will also want to claim for GST and any refundable credits that the province of ON may have.
