Question: Where the hell is my NY Tax refund?

I filled my NY state tax returns on 30 mar 2009 and is still waiting for the check, whereas I received my federal check within 3 weeks. Can anyone tell me how much time it takes for NY state refund. Every time I check the status online it gives me the same damn message “We have received your application and we are currently processing it please allow us 1 more week” ….!@#$%… same thing happens with IVR… Can anyone give me some contact number where I can speak with someone in-person.. Thanks

Answer: Don’t know. Have you thought of asking anywhere other than in the United Kingdom?

How to check your e-file status in TurboTax 2008 for Windows

Question: Login with the URL that ends with c=a,not c=b ???

I filed my tax returns online, went to check my status. i could not login. asked customer service why, and the answer was: ‘you need to login with the URL that ends with c=a, not c=b.’ I have no idea what that means! does anyone know or have a simple explanation?? thanks.

Answer: he could be talking about the post parameters…. these are like http://www.yahoo.com/?p=3 where p=3 is the post parameter…. so if the url you’re using has something in it where c=b, change it to c=a… like http://www.yahoo.com/?c=b should be http://www.yahoo.com/?c=a….. thats a stupid customer service response though, i’m in IT and it confuses me!

Question: Can someone tell me about course offered for tax preparation?

Are the classes offered by liberty, hnr block and Jackson hewlett legit. What can you tell me about the courses. Do you make good money during tax season?

Answer: Yes, they are legit. Of those 3, the Block course is the best. From what I have read, the Block course covers the most. The courses teach on how to prepare a basic income tax return. Block’s course goes a little more in depth when it comes to deductions and credits.

If you get hired, how much you make depends a lot on how much you work. Many first year preparers with the 3 big chains don’t make very much because they haven’t built up their client base yet.

Question: Advice on choosing an online college?

I want to get an associates degree is Criminal Justice, in hopes of becoming a CSI.
I have 21 units completed at my local community college but now its all full due to budget cuts and theres no room for me there so I am considering an online university like university of phoenix, Kaplan, UEI, etc.
Does anyone know which is the best?? I would contact a counselor at the schools but i swear if you show them one drop of interest they will stalk you until you enroll or change your number!!!
Also I’m 19 and get no financial help from family…cant even get fafsa because i cant get my parents tax info…what should I do?!!?!?!?!?!?! I want an education..is that so hard to ask. I have even tried for scholarships but no luck.
my gpa is not very good because I dropped a lot of classes. So it will be hard to get a grant. and i cant get a grant w/o the fafsa

Answer: It is difficult to say what online college is the best just as it is difficult to say what campus based college is the best. There are simply too many factors that need to be considered. What is more inportant is finding the best college for you.
My recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges that offer the degree program you are looking for to weigh the pro’s and con’s (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.) so you have all the info before you decide anything.

Answer: They pay a base pay, not minimum wage but close to it, plus a commission on the tax preparation fees.
