Question: I’ve been a substitute teacher for 7 yrs in Maui. Hrs cut to 16 per week. Do you seek an MBA? (808) 269-1082?

I have previous experience as a legal and fiscal administrator, and as a Federal Court HR Manager. I have also succeeded in retail management (including tax preparation). I love challenges and need to make a career change asap. Mahalo for your consideration. I can work long hours and am a take-charge, get-it-done Type A personality. I am sensitive, people-oriented, and organized. I believe in empowering employees, while keeping the organization’s mission in focus. Let’s talk, and embark on a mutually advantageous employment relationship! Aloha from Ms. Shaffer, 1438 Kemoa Place, Wailuku, HI 96793.

Answer: ma’am, i think you misunderstood the purpose of this section. this is not the place where employers look for potential employees nor is this the place for job hunters. we can offer you advice, suggestions and our 10cents worth of experience on how to land a job but beyond that is not within our purview. we cannot give you a job inspite your stellar credentials.

i suggest you search the Net for possible employers and apply directly at their websites. aloha and good luck.

Online Tax Back

Online Tax Back

Question: when trying to claim my tax online it says im only entitled to 400 back?

i only paid just over $4000 dollars tax last year but spent 2k on school fees another 3.5k on car and travel 500 on uniforms, 2 or so thousand on office stuff plus more i cant remember. once ive finished entering it all in on etax from the aus government website it says im only getting just over 400 back. surely this cant be right because as im going through on just the school stuff alone it says you are entitled to … this amount and $190 will be carried over to next year. it says i was entitled to 900 and something back just for the car but does that not mean i will get it all back because i thought it did, someone please help im really bummed about this i thought i would be getting heaps more than 400 back.

Answer: It all depends on what your gross income was and how much tax you should of paid on that, however from what you have said it sounds like you should have been getting more tax back.

Did you complete your tax return using etax or just use the ATO tax calculator on their website

This calculator will give you a better idea of what you should be getting back if you include all your relevant deductions and personal allowances – http://xpnsit.com.au/

Car/travel expenses – are your expenses all work related expenses and are they running costs or the cost of purchasing your car? there might be other methods that would be more effective (but might require you to keep a logbook)

This video and presentation explains how to calculate/maximise work related car expenses

If you can provide your salary details I might be able to be a bit more specific

Cheers, Mark!

California Tax Exempt Organizations

California Tax Exempt Organizations

Question: Should churches that meddle in politics lose their tax exemption?

Other non-profit organizations lose their tax exempt status if they promote one side or one candidate in an election. But churches apparently are exempt from this restriction. The Mormons, Catholics, other conservative churches are vigorously opposing Proposition 8 in California. I say they should get their tax exempt status yanked. Agree?
For “opposing” read “promoting”.

Answer: Absolutely.
Government and religion do not mix well.
YES! If they meddle in politics they they should give up their right to not pay taxes.
They can enourage people to vote but not encourage a a vote for a certain person.Once they do that, they cross the line. Jeremiah Wright and that church of his, yank the tax exempt status. They tell people to vote Obama. Louis Farrahkan, yup, yank his status. He almost orders his people to vote Obama (I mean he thinks he is the Messiah). The Jerry Fallwell people, they encourage you to vote McCain, yank their status. I don’t care if a Synagogue says “Vote Lieberman”, if they do, yank their status.

Michelle Malkin: So why doesn’t everyone
get Obamacare waivers?

More than one million Americans have escaped the clutches of the Democrats’ destructive federal health care law. Lucky them. Their employers and labor representatives wisely applied for Obamacare waivers earlier this fall and got out while the getting was good. Now, it’s time for Congress to create a permanent escape hatch for the rest of us. Repeal is the ultimate waiver. As you’ll recall …
