Question: Are there programs to help pay for internet connections if I am taking classes online?

I am a single mom who just recently lost my job. At 21 I feel like I need to get some kind of education under my belt if I am ever to provide for my daughter. I am choosing to take classes online to work towards a degree at home so I can still spend time with her. I know there are lots of programs for school funding, assisted housing etc. However, I was wondering if there is any program out there to assist me in covering a high speed internet connection?? I spent my entire tax return on a new laptop and I am trying to get serious about this, but I dont know how to afford ANOTHER bill-when I dont even have a job! Also-has anyone heard of the program where you can get grants for living expenses while you are attending school? Any help would be SO appreciated!

Answer: You can receive grants are almost certainly eligible, but I doubt you can live off of the “extra” provided by them. They will just cover your books and such. Otherwise you will need loans. Go to FAFSA.gov to file for them. The earliest you can get them, without an act of God, will be the fall. Can you get on with a company that will send you back to school? What areas are you interested and which region of the country? I’m sure someone on here can help you brainstorm some ideas.

SAN LUIS, Ariz. — The Internal Revenue Service announced a new measure that is meant to protect taxpayers by enforcing requirements on the paid return preparer industry across the country, according to Doug Shulman, IRS commissioner.

And I am moving to another state. They have asked me to become a consultant for them. I realize this means that I will have to set aside the money to pay my own taxes, as I have been told I will be issued a 1099 at the end of the year.
I will be living in RI, do I need a business lisence to do this? Do I need to register as a company in my own right? I will not be providing consultation for any other companies, and will be working for this company 40 hours per week.
