California Tax Training

Question: Is it legal for a company to not pay for training in California?
I just got hired at an AM/PM gas station. I trained for 2 days, 5 hours each. You train for as long as she thinks you need to without pay. She informed me that training is not paid. I did it anyway because I desperately needed a job.
I read that there are some ways around this but, i’m not related to the employer or mentally/physically disabled. When I asked her if it’s legal she replied, “I know what I am doing”.
Also, she’s taking all the tax’s out without me ever signing a W4 form. Thank you!!!!
Answer: legally you are to be PAID for all work hours, generally any training done by an employer is work hours……
see:
http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs22.pdf
if this employer refuses to pay you properly for your time, then file a wage claim with the state at:

and it would seem ‘Flower’ is clueless in regards to labor law….

Question: Is Pelosi’s new tax bill hidden in an energy bill?
This bill would ban 97% of available oil off of California and put a permanently ban within 50 miles of the USA shores. This would knock out the oil available off the North Shore of Alaska. It would also knock out 90% of all known oil reserves in the USA. Hidden within this is a revised a tax code change that would put massive costs to the American people to pay for unproven alternative energy. Pelosi’s bill was introduced last night to be voted on today without House or Senate debate or discovery. Pelosi and the Dems are already saying that if blocked by the Republicans that it proves the Dems are for energy solutions and not the Republicans. My question is: How can this type of Draconian legislation be forced down the throats of the American people? Does anyone, yes anyone, believe this is the way to solve our energy problems?
Answer: The bill also has
no nukes
no refineries
bans Anwr
bans clean coal
bans shale oilAnd provides no incentives to states by not allowing revenue sharing with the state.
The Bill does have 10 billion in liberty bonds for Barney Franks district.

Question: How much money do I have left over if I make over 250k?
My roommates are hoping to become doctors in the next couple years and I am probably going to work my way into upper management of an engineering firm. If everything goes as planned and we make over 250k, what will be the nominal tax rate in the end?
Please show the breakdown of federal, state, social security, medicare & medicaid etc. We live in California and will probably be married and have property. But just in case, can you please show how much if we are single?
This will be after the Bush tax cuts expire. also please include any other taxes I may not have thought of. I remember when making money the government would already take a nice chunk out of my paycheck.

California Tax Bar

Isnt it pothic that the goverment tells you what you can and cant do with your free time even though we pay taxes and shit????? i can go to a bar and get so drunk falling over, people staring fights and getting killed, BUT I CANT SMOKE A BLUNT OR EVEN A LITLE JOINT???? every year more n more states are legalizing marijuana JUST GET IT OVER WITH ALREADY, LEGALIZE IT!!!! WHY ISNT IT LEGAL ALREADY??? WHO KEEPS DENIEING THE LEGALIZATION?? the people want it legal its clear of that with the votes…. but its still illegal, pothic.
YOUTUBE – CALIFORNIA MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION
Answer: Small amounts of marijuana haven’t been a criminal offense in California since 1976. If caught with less than an ounce you get a citation for which the fine is 100 dollars. Also busts for small amounts don’t even show up on your criminal history.
I look at the current marijuana laws in much the same way as prohibition was back in the early 20th century. At one time the federal government thought alcohol was responsible for so much damage to society they tried to ban it.
Prohibition was a disaster remember? Despite stiff penalties for possession, sales and consumption of alcoholic beverages the vast majority of the American public continued to drink.
The major difference between now and then is instead of Chicago based mobsters like Al Capone raking in millions of dollars per year from producing and distributing illegal liquor you’ve got Mexican drug cartels calling the shots.
I would like to see weed legalized, taxed and regulated in the same manner as alcohol. If the pending California legislation passes it’s expected to bring in BILLIONS per year.

California Tax Rates

Question: Where can I find a list of property tax rate in Southern California?
There has to be an easier way than to call every city/county. I’m mainly interested in cities in L.A. county, San Bernardino county, Riverside county, and Orange county.
Answer: Try this web site first: http://www.retirementliving.com/RLstate1.html
You will need to scroll down about 1/4 of the page to California.
You can also search Yahoo or Google for the specific counties you mentioned. I know OC and Riverside county have their own pages.
Property Tax Revenues Falling
Cities and counties struggled during the recession. The recovery may be even worse. Local governments are just starting to feel the full brunt of the real-estate bust. Sales tax revenues fell in step with consumer spending during the recession — and are bouncing back now.
