Question: How do I form a P.A.? (professional association) What are the advantages and disadvantages?

I am a real estate agent and it has been brought to my attention that there are tax benefits as well as liability benefits associated with the P.A. designation. I can’t seem to find too much information on the internet regarding this topic. If anyone has any info, it would help. Thanks!! I am really concerned with the pros and cons of the P.A.

Answer: A PA is a legal form of business reserved for physicians, dentists, surgeons, etc. I think it cannot be used by a realtor. Please ask your attorney or CPA to help you choose whether to incorporate your business as a coporation, an LLC or as an LLP.

Question: Should I use an agent to process my $900 tax bonus from Australian Government?

I usually lodge my tax returns online and the company I go through is sending me emails asking if I want them to process my $900 payment for a fee of $13.75.
Is this necessary? They don’t actually say what the advantage of this is. I’d be happy to pay this fee if it means I get it quicker (what can I say, I’m in dire need of some stimulation) but I just want to know if it’s necessary.

Answer: If you lodged a return for the 2007/2008 year, the payment is completely AUTOMATIC and is paid into your bank account or however you received your tax refund. No one has to do anything to get it and there’s nothing anyone can do to hurry it along. What a ripoff! It should make you wonder if they’re cheating you on other things.

Answer: no you can’t, you have to write to the ATO with your identification . Just have a look on some old tax returns it will be on there.
