Question: Do I have to deal with Sales Tax if i’m selling my services online?

I’m planning on selling my services to people online. It’s going to be like a photo editing service where people can send their photos to me via email and I can edit them however they like and send them back with the completed photo then charge them for the work done. I’m also planning on making logo’s for people, as well as business cards, and letterheads. The question I have is, do I need to have a tax id or deal with any kind of sales tax by doing this kind of work? If so, can you provide some more information about it? and what I should do or how? Thanks in advance!
I’m in Texas, if that helps.

Answer: You’ll have to go to the Texas comptroller’s website and find out if the services you’re selling are taxable. Texas does tax a lot of services, so you may even want to call the state to verify. If they are taxable services, then you need to charge sales tax to your customers if they are located in Texas. You’ll have to apply for a sales tax ID number from the state. The state’s website will have a form you can download. Texas also has very complicated local tax rules, so you’ll want to make sure you’re charging the right rate.
