Question: Personal income tax preparation NY?

What is the difference between NYC and New York State? Am I considered a NYC or New York State resident if I live in Brooklyn, NY, Kings County? I’m confused whats the difference between them. Thank you
so, do I have to check that I lived in “Elsewhere in NYC” or Elsewhere in New York State’? Which option would be correct?

Answer: Since Kings County (Brooklyn) is part of NY city, you are considered a resident of both NY state and NY city.

Your second question is unclear. Did you move into or out of Brooklyn during the year? What form and line number are you working on, because the “elsewhere” question is not familiar to me.
