Question: We paid fed.income taxes the past 4 yrs., we didn’t itemize. this year we did. Can we re-file the past 4 yrs?
We have owed taxes in the past years but this year we get over $5000 back. I heard something about re-filing 5 years previous together with a average income. Any information would be helpful. Also is it true that for WV state taxes the filing deadline is Oct. 2008 not April like the federal taxes?

Answer: Actually if you do it before April 15 you can do amended returns for 2004, 2005 and 2006. If you wait until after April 15 then you will only be able to do for 2005, 2006 and 2007.
