Entry Level Tax Accountant Jobs
Question: Why are entry level accounting jobs so hard to get? what to do if you only have a degree but no experience? ?
I graduated college in August of 2007. I got a job in November as a tax accountant working only on individual tax returns with a CPA firm. I got laid off 9 months later, in July 2008. I have no accounting experience besides some bookkeeping experience as a Night Auditor at hotels and taxation. I have been applying ever since July and no luck! Why are entry level accounting jobs so hard to get. I have a four year degree in business with a concentration in Accounting and finance. I was dirt poor going to school and still am, so I don’t have a big network of friends. What do I do to get a job? Please Help.
Answer: Right now a lot of accountants with a lot more experience than you have are being laid off. Expect the job market to be tight for a year. In the mean time volunteer to do the books for a charity or a church so you can show more experience.
