Question: Prior Year Taxes??? Please Help :S?
So my boyfriend hasn’t ever filed taxes, he has mostly worked under the table forever, up until last year. Now he has to file 2003-2006, which only adds up to a few thousand dollars, from side jobs and such. So my question is where is a good online place to go to file prior year returns? H&R Block wants to charge him $400 to complete them, and he just paid them $350 for 2007 taxes! Is it easier to just complete manually? I have personally always done online.
Answer: All prior year tax forms and instructions are available at the IRS website. Enter “2006 forms” (or whatever year you need) in the search box in the upper right hand corner of their homepage.
If he “worked under the table”, it’s going to be difficult to establish the amount of income to report. There is also the issue that neither he nor his employer paid social security or medicare taxes on his wages.
