Question: My daughter accidentally claim independent on her tax return, can she amend her tax return?
Because she claimed independent, I cannot claim her as a dependent on mine. Can she amend her tax return and what form should she use? Her refund was direct deposited to her bank account, if she can file an amendment how do we repay the difference to irs?
Answer: go to irs.gov and download “form 1040x” and send in the payment with the return.
