Question: Taxation of Indian residents on income earned in UAE?

Hi, I will be joining a MNC in UAE in the month of November. I have been working in an Indian Bank in Mumbai for 3 years now. Tax for the Indian earnings has been deducted.

I wanted to know if the income that I earn in UAE would also be subject to taxation in India?

If yes, would it be for two months (Nov and Dec 2008 as in accordance with UAE FY) or 5 months (Nov 2008 to Mar 2009 as in accordance to Indian FY). Additional information:

1. The firm that I will be working in is based incorporated in UAE and I will be working strictly on UAE projects

Answer: In India the FY is from April 1 to March 31. For FY 2007-2008, if you have spent more than 182 days in India, then you are resident in India.
