Question: Can you get a part time job and also receive unemployment benefits?

I live in Massachusetts. Obviously under the table would work but what if I get a legit part time job. I heard that as long as you only make < 1/2 of your weekly unemployment benefits check before taxes that it is ok.

Answer: Honestly that is cheating the governmentt, if you have a job taxpayers shouldnt be paying for you. Thats greedy and selfish!!

Question: previous years returns India?

This question is for indian Income taxT. Pls refer to my first question “IT returns of previous years”. Thought will clarify more on this. It seems that the taxes have been paid for the year he worked with the help of a professional consultant by the company for all its employees. But he has not been filing returns for the year since he left. He left for higher studies and there is no income from his previous company nor is he working abroad. So does he still have to file the returns. The questio arose because, he has a PAN number and if so is it compulsory to file returns every year irrespective of income status.

Answer: Here you have said that the tax have paid by the professional consultant. If the tax have paid and the return is not file then penalty of Rs.5000/- is charged for not filing of return and interest levied u/s 234A,B,C. Any thing earned in india is taxed since you have gone aboard for studing and their is no income so you no need to file the IT return for the current year. For the previous year have do to file it.

Question: Amended tax return effect on stimulus refund?

I am a single independent student who was unlawfully claimed by another tax payer as a dependent. Upon notification of this, I filed an amended return and recieved the other portion of my tax refund. I was supposed to recieve my economic stimulus check on June 20th but after checking the status of it on the IRS website, I have learned that I will not be recieve my stimulus check due to me being claimed as someone’s dependent. My question is, what is the best route to take for my situation? Is the delay due to me filing an ammended return?

Answer: amended returns has no effect on the eligibility for the rebate it’s based on the original return filed,but there will be a 2nd chance to qualify for it if you didn’t qualify for it this year,if you qualify for it next year in 2009 when you file taxes you can claim it then.
