Question: wht’s the best tax preparation software?
Answer: TurboTax by a long long shot.
Last year I tried to do my daughter’s tax return on Kiplingers and it couldn’t handle the fact she lives in Taiwan and the first $80K of her income isn’t taxed. It said she owed $3000. I went to the IRS site and used the free TurboTax (for those with less than $50K)for her return. Despite it being free, it correctly determined everything.
