Answer: Edmontonion here!!!! The following info is all estimates based on what my family pays out each month:

If you are making that amount a month, you shouldn’t have many worries. The only thing with Edmonton right now is the housing. There isn’t much of it to go around, and landlords are jacking up the price of rent to ridiculous amounts. For a 2 bedroom apartment you could be looking at around $1000 roughly….depending on what part of Edmonton you live in. Some places a bit less, some a bit more.

For groceries with just you and your wife, that would all depend on how much you eat! For us, we are a family of 5 so we go through a lot. For you I would guess maybe $400 a month? Like I said, all depends on how much you eat.

For commute, there is a LRT here(light rapid transit…a train) you can take the bus as well, and a montly pass is $59 right now, and you can claim it on your tax return.

I have a mobile phone and for basic service I pay $29 a month. That all depends on who you are with and what features you want.

Other montly payments include:

Natural Gas: for heat and hot water: winter probably around $150-$180 depending on how much heat you like. Could be more or less. Much less in summer with not using the heat..probably cut by more than half

Electricity and water/sewage: aprx $68 a month

Internet/digital phone/cable: (I have mine all with the same company) $134 a month – a little bit more if you want regular high speed, I have high speed lite. And, the price will vary depending on what company you go with. This is what I pay with my company.

Taxes on goods and servies here are 6%. There is no tax on food.

What you might be able to save in a month is all up too you! It all comes down to how much you spend on extras.

There are a lot of jobs to be found here, but I am not sure on our countries policies on degrees from other countries….

I wish you best of luck! :)
